Hamburg women's team qualifies for the DHM Volleyball final!Preliminary round DHM Volleyball Women in Hamburg

The WG Hamburg volleyball team is delighted to take first place in Hamburg! On 8 May, the preliminary round of the German Women's Volleyball University Championship was held in the Great University Hall in Hamburg.

We are particularly proud to have a strong women's volleyball team from Hamburg for the first time in years. The #TeamHamburg was able to welcome new members from the women's Regionalliga Nord, the Third League and the Second League Pro. Special thanks also go to the coaching team Holger & Sergej, who actively supported the ladies.

Six other teams from the invited teams WG Göttingen, WG Hannover, WG Braunschweig, Uni Vechta Uni Lüneburg, WG Münster, WG Duisburg-Essen and WG Hamburg travelled to the event.

In the first game of the group stage, we were able to clearly beat the team from Duisburg-Essen. The second game was a different story. The University of Münster had also travelled with some familiar faces from the world of volleyball. After a less than favourable start and a large deficit, we narrowly won the first set. In the second set, we were also unable to play to our strengths right from the start, which is why we unfortunately had to concede it. However, after going 1:1 up, the girls' will was really sparked and we were able to win the match with a 15:08 in the third set. We got our act together just in time. Because only the first-placed team advances to the final of the German University Championship in Karlsruhe.

Our Hamburg team was able to prove itself one last time in the final against WG Göttingen. We were able to fight our way back into the set at the last second to win 29:27. Unfortunately, we were unable to do the same in the second set. Then the sudden end: WG Göttingen had to go home early and conceded the match to us. Too bad, we would have liked to have won the third set with our playful performance.

Nevertheless, first place goes to the WG Hamburg and we will be travelling to the final of the German University Volleyball Championships!
